Sherbs. I honestly need a weekend to recover from my weekend.
That being said, the party was all sorts of fun and the girls had a fantastic time (which is what really matters at the end of the day). I’m not quite ready to do a party post quite yet because I am waiting for some pictures (if you took any, won’t you mail them to me please?), so instead I am going to share something that I am most chuffed about.
The party packs.
When the girls decided on a baking theme I was full of ideas. “We can make gluten free biscuits and ice cupcakes and bake up a storm”. Then I did the numbers and the thought of 35 kids baking together in one space made my hand reach up to my face and smack some sense into it. So instead of doing the baking together, we sent the baking home with the kids to destroy, uh, I mean create in their own kitchen.
Inspired by the gifts that we made the teachers for Christmas last year and the feedback that it turned out really well, I thought we might as well keep a good thing going.
Here’s how to make “Brownies In A Bag” as Party Pack gifts at a Baking Party.
First you need to put all of the following ingredients into a resealable bag:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- pinch of salt
Once in the bag, seal and make pretty with washi tape.
I could probably have given them out like that, but why do that when you can get your husband to make bakery logos that you can stick onto pretty bags that you found at Merrypak? Exactly!
Seth designed the awesome logo and printed it on top of the rest of the instructions to be added into the bags. The rest of the instructions are:
Add:
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
Then bake at 200 degrees for 20 – 25 minutes and voila! Enjoy!
Super tip that I learned from all the Ina Paarman boxes of brownies that I have used in the past – when you take your awesome brownies out of the oven, take your favourite slab of chocolate (I like to use 70% Lindt choc) and break it into pieces and place on top of the hot brownies. It will melt and make them extra delicious – just remember to cut them before the chocolate gets hard again.
The end result looks pretty awesome, even if I do say so myself.
The extra cool thing about it is that it totally added something extra to the “pretty table” full of yummy treats. Probably the cheapest party pack I have ever put together but the most memorable one (for me at least).
Also, those amazing gorgeous cupcakes and ganache tarts were made by the amazing Megan from Bosworth Bakery

Wow Cindy this is a fantastic idea! And I love how everything looked. My kids got scarves at a Frozen party the other day for party gifts – the mom cut them out of polar fleece with snowflakes on – I thought that was pretty cool too
This is such a great idea! And the theme is too precious. As someone who loves to be in the kitchen, I may have to steal this for my own party. 😉
