Hello?! Is there anyone out there?
I’ve kinda lost track of what day or time or year it is, the holidays are flipping great, but it’s really messing with my brain. We’ve taken this week off, but both of us have had to work at home despite being on “holiday”. The joys of being constantly connected hey?! Anyway, I felt like taking a couple minutes to just sit back and reflect for a bit, so obviously that means a little currently post.
Reading: The other day I was chatting to Sharon and Cassey and they were both talking about how many books they’ve read so far this year and I turned a bright shade of green! It’s incredible. I think I’m only on my 9th book so far, but considering the amount of time I spend doing all the rest of the things that are absolutely required in life – like watching ALL the series – I’m actually chuffed.
Right now I’m reading “Darkly Dreaming Dexter” by Jeff Lindsay. It’s the book that they made the Dexter series from and if you know how much I loved the Dexter series, you have to know how excited I was to find this book at my local second hand store! I’m about half way, but it’s been such a fun experience reading through that first series again but with the added benefit of being insides his head the entire time. I’m smitten!!!
Also I’ve been doing a little “Book Club” of sorts on my Facebook page – where I write up a small review of the books that I have read so far this year. If this is your kind of thing, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the books (if you’ve read them that is).
Reflecting: We’ve just celebrated my brothers wedding and our 9 year anniversary this past weekend. So much love and gooey stuff floating around in the air. I only went through all their wedding pictures that I took now and it really was a super special day. Our girls were flower girls which is pretty much every little girls dream right?! Unfortunately we weren’t allowed to take any pictures of them doing their thing down the aisle but I’m sure we’ll get the pictures from the official photographers soon. Thankfully they did it really well and actually walked down the aisle!
The only mishap we had, was a post ceremony extended family photo which is now missing Riya (who was having a bit of a moment behind the scenes). It was probably my fault for not packing in snacks but after feeding her tummy monster, we were set for a fantastic rest of the day. I wish I could share their pictures, but the happy couple who are now relaxing in Thailand, have asked me to wait till they come back.
Enjoying: Being at home with the kids. I know those two things don’t normally go together, but I am really enjoying my little humans and experiencing their blooming personalities. Without the usual rush that the term brings with it, we’ve been indulging in late mornings, brunch dates at kid friendly restaurants, playdates, braaing at home, fixing up things around the house and just generally spending time in each others company.
My favourite little moments have been the girls getting ready to go out and see friends – putting on their jewellery, taking time to brush their hair and spraying on their overly sweet smelling perfume. It’s giving me this weird insight into what it’s going to be like raising a couple of teenagers! And Knox, oh man, Knox doesn’t stop with the giggles, if you’re on Instagram you’d probably have seen a few of them.
He actually took this picture and demanded that I pull a silly face – who am I not to comply!
Discussing: We went out for brunch this morning and while the kids were playing merrily on the jungle gym, Seth and I were chatting about something totally obscure, like petrol or something. I don’t even remember, it was that obscure. Anyway, we were distracted for a second and when I look back at Seth he’s blurting out, “Let’s adopt a baby boy!”. Just like that.
And again, even though I thought the discussion was no longer an option, it’s back on the table.
Oh my shattered nerves.

Oooh, yay for the more baby love chat 🙂 Also, did you get the book at the store at Palmyra? Because there is a slim chance it was my old copy I sold to them before we moved…small world, right?
Yes! That’s exactly where I got it!!! What a small World!
Hmmmm I like the blurting out
Happy anniversary
