I know we’ve been seeing Christmas wrapping and listening to Christmas music in the shops for ages now, but for us it still didn’t feel like Christmas. Well to me anyway. I actually can’t speak for my kids in this case, as they have been seeing Father Christmas in the most random of places. SO who knows what they think.
Nevertheless, we needed to turn our house into Christmas and it had to be done NOW. Seth jokes with me that I get a bit nuts about this stuff. And I know I do. It’s just that if we have a free day, I pounce on it much like I do a chocolate mince pie. Swiftly and leaving no mercy. And we just happened to have a free Sunday this past weekend and so I knew it was time for action.
Last year I surprised my family with a little Christmas Box. Man, I love it. Putting together random little things that I know they will get excited about is totes my vibe. So this year I obviously did the same but skipped the PJ’s (because I couldn’t find any nice ones… Christmas PJ’s can be all kinds of things, but I want them to at least have red and green on them. Not bright pink or blue which is all that I could find). And I added a cool van that is obvs not the same as Optimus but is too damn cute to pass up. I can just picture it in our campervan when we celebrate Christmas in it next year!
In this Christmas box is:
- Our stockings (and ones for the dogs)
- Chocolate and normal mince pies (from Woolies because they are the best!)
- Reindeer antlers (bought them for R20 each at Pick n Pay)
- New ornaments (that I bought on sale at the end of season last year – yes I plan that far ahead)
- Little chocolate Father Christmas’
- Our mini Optimus van (also Woolies)
- Christmas crackers (Woolies)
The idea was to put up the tree, eat the mince pies and watch a classic Christmas movie. We got as far as putting up the tree and smashing the mince pies!
We had to rush out and do other things so we couldn’t do the movie. And despite initially feeling a bit peeved about it, I had to throw my hands in the air and say whatever, because seriously Cindy?! Not everything is going to be perfect. In fact if the last 31 years have taught you anything it’s that it hardly ever turns out like it does in your head so just let it go girl.
Sorry. Sometimes I just need to give myself a pep talk.
Anyway, we had fun!
But that’s not where this post ends, because you know…. 10 Days of Giveaways and all that!
So thank you for reading all the way to the bottom and finding your surprise!
You know that I wear make up every single day of my life to hide my skin issues right?! But although it started as a bit of a mission in the beginning, I have grown to love it. There are a few products that I use religiously every single day. Those Almay gloss lipsticks are one of them. There’s always one or two different shades in my bag, another in my desk drawer and another in my make up bag at home. I really do use it a lot. I love that it gives colour without going over the top and really committing to a bright lipstick. Plus it seems to restore my lips. So if they are feeling particularly dry and cracked a couple of applications of this and it’s like it never happened.
Here’s your chance to win some and SO much more!!

Hahahaha everyday makeup look, thats funny because I don’t wear makeup at all. The only time you’ll find me with makeup is if we’re going out on a special date or I’m meeting people I haven’t seen in a while. Then is eye liner, mascara and some gloss. That’s it. I wish I had the ability to do more though
Ah i love this one!!! So cool
I don’t own lots of makeup so my go-to for everyday is mascara, bronzer and a lippie!
I wear a bit of eye liner and mascara if I remember, oh and lipstick too..
It is pretty much the whole shebang for me – but I tried to keep it natural looking so not to be overly “done” for work. I have come to love a bb cream on the weekends, but it just takes another minute to also put a creme eyeshadow and mascara on 😉
Ah i just love the Christmas box idea! Such cute things inside too. Lip gloss??? Yes please.
Everyday makeup look has to be just a good old fashioned brown palette!
A good old fashioned brown palette
Love the Christmas box idea ?? you have such a beautiful family.
Love the way dew of the box of goodies to create the vibe! Wish I had had all these ideas when my kids were still little – will need to wait for the grandkids now I guess and keep all these ideas for then! Thanks for the 10 days of giveaways!
My everyday make up is cherry shine labello or a pale purple-ish lipstick. Well that, moisturiser and sunblock. Gosh, does that even count as makeup?
Also, love the alicebands of awesome 😀
My everyday make up look is foundation, pink blush with highlighter, black eyeliner, black mascara, pink/natural tones of lipstick and I always finish with gloss 🙂
My every day make up look is foundation followed by pink blush with highlighter, black eyeliner, black mascara, pink/natural lipstick and I always finish with lipgloss 🙂
Omw… i live for makeup …. tx Cindy
My normal makeup look is usually… Well… Nothing! Haha sorry but I’m sorry lazy about makeup. I do love to have some nice options for special occasions though!
yay! would love to win this giveaway!! lipgloss is also my thing…to afraid of bight lips!
I don’t really do everyday makeup just a bit of lipgloss if i have to speak to someone important.
on special occasions I do light foundation, mascara, blush and lipgloss or a chilled lipstick (defs don’t want too much attention!!)
Everyday make up look, typically foundation, mascara and blush…but since the little ones arrival, we going kinda bare faced…?
Some foundation, definitely concealer especially for my dark circles, and then a bit of colour. Love mascara but almost never wear eyeliner. Would love some new make up goodies, it’s been a while ?
Mascara and perfume are my everyday go to’s. If I’m heading out then the other decorations get added especially lippage … nude for day and colour for the evenings.
I love the all natural look. Simple yet elegant. My mom always use to tell me to put on more make up. Other moms told their girls to wear less make up. Fingers crossed. I really need a pick me up , feel fabulous again.
I hardly wear make up except when I want to feel special. Mostly I wear powder and mascara
My go to…I keep it simple. Tinted day cream, mascara, brow pencil, a bit of concealer to hide the black mama rings under my eyes and Labello
The basic everyday is a little bit of foundation to even out my skin, some lipstick, eyeliner and eyeshadow, and depending how close I am to my next lash and brow appointment – mascara and eyebrow pencil
My every day look is Mascara, Eyebrow Pencil, Concealer under my eyes, Foundation all over, Bronzer under my cheek bones and a reddish brownish lipstick. For special events I had some eyeliner and eyeshadow 🙂
My look is simple and natural – cover dark under eye circles, eyeliner, mascara and touch of pink hues on my cheeks. And I’m done… I will look like me after 4 products.
this is such an initiative idea and it fun for the whole family, im definitely doing this for mine. Thanks Cindy and family
I use eyeliner, mascara; lipstick and lipgloss
Some lipstick and mascara
Usually uses a concealer to cover my dreadful eye circles, some pressed powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner and lipstick.Use mascara and blush on special occasions
My wife doesn’t wear makeup daily except for some lip gloss. She uses makeup on the weekend.
Lipstick, blush and foundation
I very much prefer the no make up make up look with hints of highlight, for a dewy finish
My everyday makeup look ( I go as natural as possible) but a little bit of eye liner mascara and some lip gloss I use a foundation powder
Love lip gloss for exactly the same reasons!
I don’t wear any makeup, only on special occasions, purely because I’m not very confident in my abilities. One of my Christmas wishes is a course on how to apply makeup with more confidence.
All I heard was chocolate mince pies…
The Christmas box is a lovely idea.
