The other day I was flicking through my photos and I realised something. I have had grey hair for more than a year now. Which is quite bizarre actually!
Originally it was something I thought I’d quickly try so that I could pat myself on the back for doing something new. I didn’t think I’d like it and I would return to the regular programming of blondeness shortly thereafter. But it’s stuck. I don’t know why, but it just feels so much more ME than the blonde hair did. Which is weird considering that I am a natural blonde.
What I also love about the grey is that it’s light enough to try anything.
So that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. Stylebar in Palmyra Junction have been helping me experiment with my hair for years now and I wouldn’t trust anyone else to do it. They get it perfect every single time. Remember when I went pink? I just showed my stylist what I wanted (on Pinterest) and she matched the colour perfectly.
Granted it washed out fairly quickly (about 5 weeks and it was back to the grey/purple), but it was quite light to begin with so I knew that it was going to happen.
Anyway, back to pretending to be a unicorn.
I LOVE rainbows. Like finding rainbow colours in anything brings me a ridiculous amount of joy. It’s actually quite silly. It also drives me dilly when the crayons aren’t in the right order or people get the rainbow wrong, or you know something completely irrelevant like that. So I have been wanting to dye my hair with rainbow colours for a while now.
But when you’re a working Mom, how do you make it work appropriate? I didn’t think you could until I realised that you can have the working Mom on the top and the party at the bottom! Once again Stylebar helped me to perfect the look I wanted using the Schwarzkopf Professional Color worx. Check it out!
This is before I have washed it – I’m giving it a couple of days to really soak in because I know that the colour fades quickly. But in this case I’m actually happy about that, while I do like the bright rainbow, I’m not a naturally “out there” person and so I am keen for the colours to fade a smidge so that it’s noticeable but not like, “Mom show everyone in the World your rainbow hair” noticeable. Really. My kids have made me show everyone that they know!
(Photos of my new rainbow hair taken by my “Instagram Husbands” aka – Kyla and Riya haha)
